Mechanical Engineering & Design

Fliteway provides complete mechanical engineering design for environmental remediation equipment. Our engineers develop equipment layouts, piping systems, structural platforms, and enclosure designs that are fabrication-ready and optimized for field installation.

Engineering That Builds Real Equipment

Environmental remediation systems are not theoretical designs — they are physical equipment that must be fabricated, transported, installed, and operated in the field. Fliteway's mechanical engineering team designs every system with fabrication and installation as the primary considerations. Our engineers work on the shop floor alongside our fabricators, which means our designs are practical, buildable, and cost-effective.

We produce complete mechanical design packages including general arrangement drawings, equipment layout plans, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), piping isometrics, structural steel details, vessel and tank specifications, and fabrication drawings with Bills of Materials. All designs are developed using 3D modeling to coordinate the mechanical, piping, electrical, and controls disciplines and identify interferences before fabrication.

Our mechanical engineering team has designed systems ranging from compact 4-foot skids to 53-foot trailer-mounted treatment trains, and from simple pump stations to multi-story treatment buildings. Every design is developed for the specific project requirements, transportation constraints, and site conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

What mechanical engineering services does Fliteway provide?
Fliteway provides comprehensive mechanical engineering for environmental remediation systems. Our scope includes process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), equipment layout and general arrangement drawings, piping design and isometrics, structural steel design for skids and platforms, vessel and tank sizing, pump and blower selection, HVAC design for enclosures, and complete fabrication drawing packages. We use 3D modeling software to coordinate mechanical, electrical, and piping disciplines and detect interferences before fabrication begins.
What types of piping systems does Fliteway design?
We design piping systems for vapor, liquid, and multi-phase applications in environmental remediation. Common piping materials include Schedule 80 PVC, CPVC, HDPE, carbon steel, stainless steel (304 and 316L), and FRP depending on the chemical compatibility, pressure, and temperature requirements. Our piping designs include pipe routing, support details, flexibility analysis for thermal expansion, and connection details for field installation. We produce piping isometric drawings, pipe support details, and complete Bills of Materials.
Does Fliteway design containerized and building-enclosed systems?
Yes. A significant portion of our engineering work involves designing complete treatment systems within modified shipping containers (8-ft, 20-ft, 40-ft CONEX units), pre-fabricated buildings, and custom enclosures. Our mechanical engineers design the interior equipment layout, structural modifications (door cutouts, louvers, penetrations), HVAC systems, insulation, heat trace, lighting, and access platforms. Every containerized system is designed to be fully pre-assembled and tested in our facility before shipping to the project site.
How does Fliteway handle vibration and noise in mechanical design?
Blowers, pumps, and compressors generate vibration and noise that must be managed for equipment longevity and site compliance. Our mechanical designs incorporate vibration isolation mounts, flexible connectors (expansion joints and flex hoses), spring hangers, and mass-loaded vinyl or acoustic enclosures where required. For containerized systems, we include vibration damping pads and acoustic insulation to meet project-specific noise limits, which are typically specified at the property boundary.
